The Social Studies curriculum requires students to complete assignments using technology; oftentimes working on researching important topics. Even though our school has few tablets available, not only are they outdated, mostly either no longer work or doesn't support certain programs we need. Not to mention, there's not enough for everyone. Since classroom sources are usually limited to hard copy materials, an iPad would allow me to have a differentiated instruction (DI) station. These are hardworking kids with very little opportunities offered to them. Access to technology feels like a far fetched dream. A dream that I want to help make reality.
