These books are all nominated for awards in Maine - our students will have a chance to READ and VOTE for their favorite in the statewide competition. Our school and classrooms are gearing up for big initiatives in the coming weeks to celebrate reading. These books will be a part of those student-led projects: book talks, writing to authors, creating videos to promote a favorite, and hosting guest readers, including local Navy personnel associated with Bath Iron Works. Copies of these books are in high demand; as soon as I read-aloud or preview one, there is a mile-long list of students requesting it. To keep the momentum and excitement going and to get more circulating - so more can read and participate - I need more copies!
