We are in the age of technology where many children are born with an innate ability to utilize all types of technology. However, many of my children do not have access to technology at home and school will be the only place they are able to learn. The purpose of our Pre K program is to give scholars a slight head start in the education field that potentially could present unequal based off of their economic and developmental status.
The iPads will be apart of the technology center where each day during center time scholars will use the ABC YA app to enhance their classroom learning of the alphabet/sounds, rhyming words, beginning sounds, simple addition, and subtraction. Other applications such as ABC Mouse, PBS Kids, and National Geographic will offer the same learning. The scholars will login using instructions previously given in class and then follow the lesson plan set out by the teacher based off of their progress in class. These iPads will not only supplement our scholars' learning but they will also give them hands on experience with a new form of technology as they prepare for the 21st century!
