Every scholar has the potential to learn and reach greatness when provided with the proper instruction and resources. As we begin engaging with hybrid learning, we are faced with teaching both scholars online and in person. Currently, my scholars do not have access to any technology devices while at school. This is incredibly challenging given the current situation. Scholars are not allowed to use the physical books in our library due to the Covid restrictions that impede them from sharing materials.
These iPads would provide my students with the ability to read books electronically and access our ELA curriculum. Resources such as NEWSELA, Readworks and Epic provide ample opportunities for scholars to engage with meaningful texts. In addition, sites that support mathematics such as Zearn are only available electronically.
My scholars are willing and persistent, but a limitation in technology availability creates a great challenge. The resources I have selected for my students would allow each student to have a device to use when in school. They would be able to access an array of bilingual resources, such as virtual libraries and learning platforms, and create work products through apps such as iMovie and Garage Band. In addition, they would be able to access electronic assessments, which would limit the use and exchange of paper and pencil, helping ensure we continue to keep safe. It would also help facilitate and create cohesion between scholars who are home and in school, as they would be able to log into Microsoft Teams simultaneously. The charging station would ensure that each device can be properly stored and charged so that the iPads are safe and ready for use.
Please help us keep bilingual education alive and support our future. My scholars deserve the world and your support can help change their lives.
