As a fifth grade math and science teacher, I spend the entire school day instructing lessons and providing my students with a quality education. I teach a total of 50 dynamic students who are passionate about math and learning new concepts. As amazing as my students are, like many others, they struggle with staying focused or productive. One main reason is restrictive seating. I am requesting 4 high-top tables and 8 stools for my students to use in my classroom. Unlike the traditional seating arrangements of desks and chairs that I have experience in the past, I have realized that with flexible seating, students seem empowered by having some control over their learning environment. Flexible seating also builds community in the classroom by encouraging them to share their space and supplies with other students. I have dedicated my time in creating a safe, student-centered space where my students can learn, grow, and collaborate with one another and I believe that this project will allow me to take my student's education a step further.
The donations of this project will provide my students with a learning environment that is both more comfortable and functional.
The addition of this seating will give my students a much needed push in their academics and allow them to choose the environment that helps them learn their best.
