These books have been carefully curated after conducting a poll with second graders about what they are interested in reading. Additionally, I have combed through the books I do have and considered how the texts represent each learners' reading abilities and differing backgrounds. The books on this list will help fill the "gaps" in our current classroom library and fulfill the needs of all learners. Many texts on this list are series books and were selected with the hopes of piquing student engagement as they will be able to follow their favorite characters on several adventures. With these books, students will be able to read independently at their level, choose from a variety of series, and sustain their enthusiasm for reading throughout the school year.
