I am requesting a class set of The Servant: A Simple Story About the Essence of Leadership for my student leadership classes because I currently do not have the funding to purchase these classroom materials. These books are crucial for our classroom curriculum as they are the foundation of our curricular content. In our classroom, students are taught that leadership is all about building relationships with others through service and sacrifice. Students serve and sacrifice for others by learning how to treat others with patience, kindness, honesty, respect, selflessness, forgiveness, humility, and commitment.
These books will provide my students with a better and deeper understanding of what leadership looks like, feels like, and sounds like. With this book and experiential activities students will gain communication skills, group processing skills, management skills, self-awareness, and human relations. Students will have the opportunity to study the principles of servant leadership and put what they study into action through the planning of events and activities on our campus for the student body and will take the skills they learn in this classroom and apply them to all areas of their life.
