My school is in a low-income neighborhood and my students are uniquely challenged because they are in a split class with 11 Kindergarteners and 9 First Graders. The majority of my students are learning English. Most speak Spanish as their first language, but I also have newcomers from Iran, India, and Germany. My most recent arrival is a seven year old girl from El Salvador who arrived this week. They are an enthusiastic bunch, and it can get loud in the classroom with my assistant and myself teaching two separate lessons. The paddles will help students participate quietly in our dual-grade class.
