We have students who experience a loss and as a school community we support in many ways. One of the first things we do is provide resources (often brought to the home) which include grief books, journal, crayons, stuffed animal and personal notes from our staff. I believe this helps the student and family begin their healing process by having a age appropriate guide to talking about the loss and feelings. We need support in providing these books as we support children and families during their grieving process. Families who we have supported in the past ave expressed gratitude and expressed that this outreach was a critical part of their healing process.
