My school has a mission. We "exist to guide students in the development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich, educational programs." I have a mission... to work to fulfill this mission each year.
Students Working Alongside Teachers, or S.W.A.T., is one way that we develop students of character, scholarship, and leadership in grades 6-8. I have the privilege of leading the 6th grade group. 2017-2018 was my first year in this position and I want to be more purposeful in the growing of these amazing students into well-informed, prepared leaders.
The way I plan to do this is to take them through two books over the course of the year: 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and Leading From the Lockers. I believe that really diving into these books by reading, discussing, and journaling will help lay a strong foundation of character and an understanding of what leadership is so that they can move confidently into other leadership roles throughout their lives. Success is when preparation and opportunity meet. I want to help them be prepared for when those opportunities arise.
You can help me do that! So exciting! I plan to use these books each year, so your donation will affect students for years to come! Thank you for your generosity!
