Students use computers daily in the classroom during differentiated instruction. Although it would be ideal for each child to have one, the reality is that quantities are limited and there are few to share. The use of computers will allow students to become more engaged in their learning by allowing them to use a multi sensory approach to recall new information.
Computers will allow students to participate in lessons geared directly towards their individual learning goals. Students will use music, colorful visuals, and be challenged with games and other fun activities to make learning feel like less of a challenge. English language learners will receive the assistance that language barriers sometimes do not let them receive at home. Computers also allow students to learn independently at their level, and at their speed. It enables the teacher to organize her time to focus on a separate small group of students, while students on the computer are also receiving instruction.
Technology such as computers will allow students the opportunity to increase academic achievement by working towards their individual learning goals. Computers will provide students access to the world of technology where the possibilities of learning and exploring interests become broader. Our learners are our future, and our future is based on technology.
