In the past we have had a looming club in our school to help teach our students to help others in need in their community. Once again we want meet this need again. With the materials we are asking for we will teach our students the importance of helping others.
With a recent cold snap people in our community are in need of warm clothing especially hats. With these supplies of looms, needles and yarn, we will begin to teach our students how they can help meet this need. In the past we made close to one hundred hat that were given to those in need. Sometimes we have given these hats to the students in our own building who were in need of a warm hat. When the students see the hats they made helping others in their building it gives them a great sense of pride and accomplishment. It also gives them something fun and helpful to do after school.
We are a Title I school and it is sometimes hard to give our students service learning opportunities. We are often more concerned with getting our student more services and help then giving them opportunities to help others. With your help we can help change this.
