In today's distractible world many students have difficulty focusing on simple tasks. Music however, has been used to increase attentiveness. Playing an instrument also increases coordination and spatial intelligence along with building imagination and creative thinking. In our classroom students sing, dance and explore music, but they are limited when it comes to producing diatonic music due to the absence of appropriate musical instruments. By using BoomWhackers, Sound Shapes and Handbells students would be able to play along with compositions and compose music themselves.
ALL students deserve the opportunity to explore musical instruments and learn to "Read" and Compose music!
The use of diatonic C Scale BoomWhackers, Sound Shapes and True Tone Handbells have been used effectively in teaching rhythm and timing in a cooperative manner.
