I teach resource math in a junior high school. Our classes are 75 minutes and some of my students struggle to sit still for that long. I am requesting materials to allow movement around my classroom and keep students engaged.
Allowing students to move can keep students focused on their work, relieve anxiety or hyperactivity and not disrupt others.
The use of bounce bands on their desks can keep their feet moving, but their brain focused. I will utilize the clipboards for students to complete gallery walks or walk around problems. I will provide math stations and centers using the different posters and decor around the room. I hope to make my classroom a safe space for my students so they feel confident to learn, make mistakes and grow academically and socially.
