Although many of my students lack the most basic, essential items they need and deserve, I believe as a teacher it is my responsibility to provide these things for them. Our scholars come from low-income, struggling families, and strive to find success in an academically rigorous and unique educational experience. We are an innovative school that strives to recognize positive behaviors and academic successes while meeting the challenging needs of scholars who come to school every day from difficult lives riddled with disappointments and lacking the most fundamental necessities.
Coming from an area of our city where violence and high-poverty are prevalent, my students truly show their dedication to their education and such perseverance each and every day. They deserve to have the same benefits that other students in higher socio-economic areas are given.
