I am a speech therapist working in a 12-month special act public school district. Students are ages 13 to 21, classified with autism, emotionally disturbed, learning disabled and/or multiple disabilities. Most are minority students from low income families. Many have struggled in school throughout their lives.
However, with the accommodations and modifications provided by the special act school, they are able to excel and reach their full potential.
These students are provided smaller classroom ratios, personalized attention, and a myriad of specially certified providers that assist in their overall development.
