This year my students made a goal to become independent learners who can choose how to work in order to do their best learning. Some students discussed that they have a tough time sitting still all day, or have trouble writing when sitting at a chair, or love working in a private area with no distractions.
Our bodies weren't created to sit stationary for large amounts of our day. Young students especially need to be able to wiggle, stretch, balance, and move their bodies to engage their minds. Hokki Stools would allow more of my students to move their bodies while focusing. Hokki Stools were invented to help students with focusing issues and would help us maximize learning in the classroom. The Hokki stool is a rounded stool that wobbles slightly requiring students to balance at all times. The wonderful thing about these stools is that they aren't a distraction to other workers and greatly help students focus.
By having 6 in our classroom, we would be able to have all students who require their bodies to move while focusing to take turns.
