I can individualize instruction and support each student’s unique path of development as a reader with the use of our iPads. However, we do not have the headphones we need to make the most of this technology. There are fantastic reading programs, such as Lexia, Raz-Kids, and Reading Eggs, that enable students to access differentiated materials, but the apps require students to listen closely as stories and directions are read aloud. Now, the sounds of multiple apps running simultaneously distract my students. Adding headphones to our classroom will benefit the students by enabling them to stay focused on their own set of learning materials. With headphones, my students will be able to take full advantage of the educational apps and reading programs that will help develop their reading abilities.
