Many students don't know how to play in groups. They have difficulties taking turns, expressing their opinion in kind ways, and being team players.
My students will come to my office in small groups and play a game of their choosing. By doing so, they will learn basic social skills, such as taking turns, losing, and learn how to be competitive in healthy ways. These skills will translate into other settings. In the classroom, the students will be able to play appropriately in the playground and will be able to participate and collaborate in classroom projects. At home, these skills will enhance their relationships with siblings and friends.
