All of my students own cell phones, and as a result getting them to put their cell phones away for the duration of my class period has been a challenge. Excessive cell phone usage during class has become a major disciplinary problem in my class, but all cell phones need to be charged. And since students spend quite a bit of time on their cell phones the batteries drain very quickly. One solution would be to create a charging station within my classroom away from students' desks. Their phones would be charging during class, and provide for more effective classroom management for me as a teacher.
The requested materials include cell phones holders and outlets for charging. The charging station will make a difference in my students' learning by removing their focus from the latest messages from friends on their ever present cell phones or the latest social media posts, to classroom learning objectives.
