My students have so much energy that they have a difficult time sitting safely in their desk. Our chairs are attached to the desks, which gives them no option to move. Students are constantly hanging their bodies over the chair, sitting on the back of the chair, or kicking the bottom of their desk. With many of my students suffering some form of trauma, flexible seating will provide them with necessary social skills of making choices. It will allow many of them to feel like they are in control of their day and learning. Having flexible seating options like a ball chair, balance balls and wobble cushions will give students the ability to choose where and what to sit on to complete their work. It will allow students to move safely while working quietly, not disturbing others around them
