Our rural Middle School is far from a 1:1 student to technology ratio. Our school is Title 1; many of our students are from low-income families. For many of our students, technology needed to complete school work is not available at home. Therefore, it is important for them to have access to necessary technology at school.
My seventh grade English and Reading students don't have enough technology to keep up with 21st century skills that are so important for today's learners.
One way my students will be utilizing these Chromebooks is during English class. We would love to give our students the ability to, not only learn to research, but also to type and create visual presentations to go with their research. They will be able to learn how to blog, create digital storyboards, complete their journals online, and much more! In Reading, our students will be working on technology-based group projects, individual projects, will be able to access wonderful programs such as Activelylearn, Edpuzzle, CommonLit, and more! In addition, we ELA teachers would love to try using an online Literature Circle, but can't without access to daily technology.
