When you live in a low income county where most all industries have closed within the last two years, going to school is a choir. My students do not have the pleasure to run to the store to buy a calculator because it is required they know basic Algebra before they graduate. When we begin to graph equations they have to complete it on regular wide ruled paper because their parents will not buy graph paper. However, my students want to learn and they want to graduate to go out into the real world with the ability to get a good paying job.
