A new, clean classroom rug will make a difference in my students’ lives by providing a clear space for students to gather for morning greeting (every morning we choose a different greeting, examples include Guttentag, Buenos Dias or Bon Jour). A rug will provide ample comfort for independent and partner read time during the day. Finally, a new rug will support our daily community circle where complements, apologies and concerns are expressed. This responsive classroom approach promotes wellbeing, safety, and community building for all students. Finally, a new rug is one way to validate the belief that all children deserve clean, healthy spaces that are attractive and comfortable in which to thrive in.
