I am requesting fund for the Orff Level 3 training, a 2-week intensive course, that focuses on pedagogy, recorder, and movement. The course is designed to develop musicianship, creativity, and teaching strategies for teachers. This professional development opportunity will allow me to gather more experiences and teaching strategies and implement them effectively into my classroom.
The Orff process is all about channeling the kid’s natural ability to play. Through play, children learn. It is my goal to reach all students in a variety of ways, whether that is through singing, playing instruments, movement, singing games, or composing.
My teaching philosophy is the belief that every student can learn. Music is part of the human experience and everyone can participate in the appreciation of music and the music-making process. Music is something everyone can connect to and I hope to strengthen that connection.
My goals include helping students learn and succeed in the classroom while gaining a deep appreciation for music and the fine arts. Each student will leave my classroom with the feeling that music is an important part of life, can be a used as a healer, and that it can help in other areas of school, such as learning states or math formula’s. I also want to provide a safe and encouraging environment so each student can feel like they are important and contribute to the music making and creative process.
