My middle school students need books that will help them grapple with racism in America. Books like New Kid, Dear Martin, and Dear Justyce, will provide a venue to discuss the current state of racism in American. These books will help students under systemic racism and how inequalities still prevail in America. The climate of our nation and the effects of the Global Pandemic and the Racial Injustice Movement will have lasting effects on my students and our children. I want to equip my students with the knowledge and tools to so they will continue the fight in hopes that one day we can have true equality in America.
