The listening center will instill the love of reading and reading skills in my students. I am in need of a listening center that consist of informational read-alongs and an easel cart for book storage. My classroom is in need of a listening center because listening devices support my students phonological and phonemic awareness. Also, the listening devices will support the language needs for my English language learners. The listening center will help my students see how words on a page can come alive in a fluent and expressive way. My students will be able to build upon their sight word vocabulary, improved their listening skills, and be exposed to a variety of informational text structures. My students need accessible storage to store the read-alongs in the literacy center. The storage cart will allow my students to easily access the instructional materials that are needed for the listening center.
The donations will help improve my classroom by allowing students to easily access informational read-alongs in our listening center. The majority of my students are English language learners; the students will be able to access informational read-alongs that will support their vocabulary and phonemic development. Listening to audio book teaches critical listening skills, introduces new genres, and invites students to listen to books above their independent level.
