This year to date my students have never had their own copy of a school-related piece of literature. We have bounced back and forth between digital copies of texts and sharing class sets.
There is nothing like receiving a new copy of a book and leafing through it for the first time, taking in the crisp, new pages and "new book smell". I want to provide my students with this opportunity, as well as the ability to make notes in their personal copy. This will also allow students to read outside of class, a definite need when reading a full novel in a short period of time.
