I am a preschool teacher at a low-income inner-city school. Most of my students come to school with having to face hunger, shootings, and hearing sirens all night long. Some of my students cannot even play outside because of these dangers in their neighborhoods. They come to school exhausted from not sleeping the night before and hungry from only eating the meals given at school.
It is sometimes hard for my students to be able to learn and enjoy school because of these factors.
It is my goal to provide them with a safe, warm and caring environment at school and to get them ready for Kindergarten so they can be as successful as possible.
