I have been a preschool teacher for over twenty years. One thing I have realized is how important it is to embed a love and respect for learning in the hearts and souls of our young students. Having access to quality literature will help children develop an intrinsic love of reading and learning. The variety of books that you see on our list will help stretch our children's imaginations and interests while developing diverse vocabulary and their knowledge of the world around them. Infusion of the Spanish language classics will further engage our Dual Language Learners.
As a teaching team, we love to use books to individualize with children, reading at times with a child one on one in our cozy area. Other times, we may gather in that same area as a small group to explore an interesting topic, or understand and solve social problems. Sometimes we gather just to enjoy a good story and have a laugh together as a classroom family. This collection of books will help students learn to love reading and realize how valuable, useful and enjoyable it can be.
