In today's world students are using technology on a daily basis; this should include the use of calculators in the classroom. The use of calculators will give students an additional tool to better understand mathematical concepts which will result in higher academic achievement. I believe that my student's overall attitude towards mathematics will be consistently more positive.
Calculators allow students to become more active learners and more confident in their mathematical ability. Students using calculators have demonstrated a better understanding of mathematical concepts because they are able to focus on those concepts rather than tedious computation.
Because of our school population's limited income, students do not have equal access to advanced technological tools such as scientific calculators. By having the funds to provide each student with the same calculator, the students would experience less stress derived from their socioeconomic status.
