I am constantly searching for new ways to engage my students and help them to develop their language skills. Having a listening center in my classroom would help me to achieve this goal. At a listening center, students use headphones to listen to a story while following along in the book. Having access to a listening center will give my kindergartners extra opportunities to be exposed to new vocabulary words and hear books read aloud with appropriate expression and fluency. My students will build on their reading comprehension and be exposed to new genres and books above their reading level.
Listening to books makes learning a language fun and it is my goal to provide my students with a variety of meaningful experiences and resources to develop their language, as well as foster a love for reading. A listening center will allow students of all different language levels to participate and learn!
