For homework each day, my students are to read for 20 minutes; because students who do this throughout their K-12 school career, have shown to perform substantially higher on standardized tests. However my students often lack the resources to have a variety of reading materials at home.
Therefore I am building a classroom lending library for my students that has an assortment of genres and reading levels. This will allow me to loan to my students different titles on their independent reading levels throughout the school year. Thus breaking down some of the barriers that limit them and enabling them to soar in their reading.
