My urban school district is the twenty-fifth largest in the nation. My elementary school is located in one of the fastest growing suburban areas of the city. My school is a public elementary, K-5th grade building. This is our eighth year being open. It was built in 2002 to alleviate the stress of overcrowded elementary schools in the area. Our school’s enrollment is 729 and that number is expected to continue to grow. The children at my school come from a variety of home settings and represent many ethnicity's. I teach a regular education first grade class. My classroom family of 22 first grade students ranges in age from six to seven. I provide instruction in language arts, math, science, social studies, and health. I have my own self-contained classroom with two networked computers that run educational software and have access to the Internet, an LCD projector, document camera, and airliner slate.
