I am fortunate to have an eclectic mix of students in my science class. They are young adults that bring critical thinking and life experiences to their learning. All of them are bilingual and have rich stories from around the world. Despite these differences, my students are evolving into promising scientists each day.
Currently, my students are taking high school biology. Concurrently, they are learning English as a second language. Therefore it is paramount that visual prompts, scientific artifacts, and laboratory tools be used to reinforce their basic reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities.
Up until now, I have been procuring and funding artifacts, posters, as well as scientific materials and tools for my students. As of today, we have experimented with cells structures, functions, and processes.
My young scientists appreciate every opportunity they get to expand their knowledge.
