The materials I have requested will be used specifically for the color me a rainbow lab that I have recently added to my science curriculum. The students will learn how to accurately measure volume. They will also learn about mixing of colors. The materials will also be used when we explore the relationships between density, volume, and mass. The addition of three digital balances will speed up the process of massing their materials and this will give me 5 balances they can use - almost one per lab group of 4.
The smaller test tubes will be used so the students can isolate their own DNA in test tubes! This DNA experiment has been a hit over the years and I have run out of disposable test tubes to carry this experiment out for this school year.
I find that using lab activities motivates even the shiest student in the classroom. Students learn collaboration, measurement techniques and skills that will help them succeed in high school science classes. My students love being engaged in lab activities that have real world applications. I love seeing them engaged. Thank you ahead of time for your donation!
