I believe one way to engage readers to have a love of reading is to allow them to see themselves in the books they read. Through building a diverse library, I hope to do just that. I want to expand the cultures and life experiences represented in the books on my library shelves. I want students to find that "one book" that changes reading for them. I want my students to be able to walk over to our classroom library and see themselves. I want them to connect and fall in love with reading. I want them to expand their horizons and learn to accept themselves and others who are not like them.
