My Autism students have significant cognitive and physical needs. Physical education often gets pushed aside for students with these deficits. Due to their lack of communication, it is difficult to know when they are becoming frustrated during physical activities. I would love for my students to have these watches for many reasons. Students having Autism require visuals! They will be able to self-monitor and correlate the numbers increasing on their watch with what they are feeling! They will also be able to compare heart rates with their peers promoting social interaction skills. I will incorporate a daily heart rate target for every student to get them to reach their goal making them accountable for their health!
