I send home books with my students every night. Research shows that students who read at a kindergarten level should be taking home at least 15 books weekly. Right now, I just do not have the resources to allow my students to take home the number of books that they really need to succeed. I am asking for guided reading books in levels C and D because these are the levels that most of my kids are reading on at this point in the year.
By donating to this project, you are not only helping my students to learn to read, but helping them to gain a LOVE of reading by providing them with high-quality, fun, and interesting books at levels that are accessible to them. Each night, my students bring home books that they can read with their families. This grant will give them more opportunity to read more titles so that they can become life-long readers.
