In Kindergarten, we spend a LOT of time on the floor: calendar time, story time, whole group lessons, rest time, and choice time (learning how to get along with others through play). Right now we have a donated rug that has seen better days. The edges are fraying and the backing is crumbling.
Having a designated "spot" on the carpet helps with personal space. I tried a few different ways to give the students a visual about where to sit, but those methods didn't help the condition of our rug. Tape leaves adhesive residue, and the hook and loop spots stick too well.
It would be great to have a rug that helps them to know their space!
