My COMPASS Program students work diligently on math problem solving and calculations daily. Some students struggle with mental math, and we need calculators in place for students to check their own work and to assist students in higher level math classes. Some students need to borrow calculators to do their homework.
Having calculators and batteries would enable our students to share tools, which is a good growth activity/social skills practice for them, do math independently, and utilize school time in study skills class to get tutoring and work through and check models of mathematical problems.
