My students need high interest classroom sets of 30 of chapter books, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Jackie Robinson and the Story of All Black Baseball, Hungry Hungry Sharks and The Statue of Liberty, to enhance the quality of our literature circle groups to build the love of reading and encourage life-long readers. The chapter books will provide the opportunity for my students to explore different genres of literature while building reading and comprehension skills that they will use throughout their lives. With these experiences, the students will be able build on the skills that they learn and begin to apply that knowledge to more complex texts. They will also learn to have group discussions based on facts and opinions from the material. Throughout the classroom discussions, students will learn to think openly and thoughtfully about other's opinions, and share their point of view on the topics and themes presented in the chapter books.
