Students oftentimes struggle with conceptualizing 3-D shapes in geometry, as well as conceptually understanding fractions and how to solve for unknown variables. These hands-on materials will provide students with the opportunity to understand these concepts more, instead of just memorizing them from paper. The 3-D, foldable shapes and geometric building kits will allow students to further understand these shapes and make the connections in terms of solving for surface area and volume. The pizza fraction game will allow students to see real world applications of fractions, instead of just working with these numbers in an abstract way. Lastly, the unknown variable flash cards will be very helpful with getting students to see how inverse operations work. Overall, these materials will make a huge difference in terms of making math meaningful and interactive for students as they return to the classroom!
