How many of you have experienced sending the same student to detention with no behavior change. What we often find, is that the students who are experiencing the harshest conditions are often immune to punishment. We would like to change the idea of"rehabilitation" from punishment to reflection.
When a student practices mindfulness and has a chance to reflect on their decisions, in a positive environment, we are often able to get down to the root of the issue. We can then try to remedy the true issue, rather than putting a bandaid over an open wound.
Help us create our Zen Classroom, where teachers will use yoga, meditation, reading, and a quiet space to encourage student to reflect and make the right decisions. We thank you kindly for all of your help.
