Every year my students do a huge research project on the five major biomes of the world. Students spend from February break to April break learning to read and use informational books to create a finished typed piece of writing about the climate and weather, geography/location, plants/trees, animals, and any interesting facts about a specific biome. These types of books will be more engaging for students to learn about biomes, take notes and transfer this new information into a published piece of writing. It will improve the lives of ours students by helping them to better understand the world we live in. These books all go along with our unit of study and would be wonderful for my students to use in small guided reading groups, whole group, and individually.
