The neighborhood surrounding the school where I work is a vibrant and diverse community made up mostly of immigrant families, primarily from Central and South America. As my school is located in the center of this community, over 90% of students in my classroom are emerging bilingual (some even trilingual), and come to school each day with their own wealth of knowledge to share with our class.
My kindergarten students are inquisitive, joyful, motivated, and come to school excited and ready to learn every day.
As a teacher in this community at a Title 1 school, it is my job to teach rigorously while meeting needs for all of my students, and to equip them with the knowledge and tools necessary to be good citizens of the social world.
