The students in my classes have incredibly diverse reading abilities and interests, but my school does not have a library or media center available to them. I am responsible for funding my classroom's library, and my books are the only options for students to choose from. I have borrowed a number of books from other teachers, but the titles that I currently have do not match the reading levels of all learners. Additionally, many of my students do not live in close proximity to a public library, making it more difficult for them to attain public reading materials. I am seeking funding to build a library that invites readers of all levels to build their literacy skills. My students' Lexile scores range from Beginning Reader to over 1200, meaning that, while I have some students reading at the 8th or 9th grade levels, I have other students that are still struggling to sound out simple words (some of which are in my "Fundamentals of Reading" enrichment course). Additionally, I have several English Learners and students with special needs that rely on our classroom books for building their skills. Please help me build the fun, inviting, and FULL classroom library that I have been envisioning!
