Einstein, Curie, and Darwin explored the world around them and didn't learn science by sitting in a hard, plastic desk all day. Scientists need room to be creative, free spaces to think and plan projects, and most importantly the ability to choose the area they will most be successful in. Today's teens spend nearly 8 hours a day in a desk with little freedom to get up and move around. Flexible seating is a solution to this.
Science cannot be learned without exploration.
Exploration starts with engagement. Students are more engaged when they are able to choose where they sit. The couches, lap desks, and coffee tables will give students options for classroom seating. Adding these pieces to our classroom will give students the ability to think more creatively and act more like scientists. Choice will positively impact their work and help them to grow even more into the leaders they all are!
