My wonderful students are facing challenges of all types. They are all struggling readers and some even "shut down" when they see too many words. They have a difficult time writing also. In my special education classroom I teach grades 3rd through 6th with many reading disabilities. These are great students who have the ability to achieve if given the opportunity. They don't have as many opportunities since this is a low income area.
