The ability to read well is one of the most important factors in a student's academic success. For that reason, part of my students' daily classwork and homework is to read a book of their choice.
It's important to have books with a variety of genres and reading levels available for students to choose from. By the time students get to middle school, there is a wide range in students' reading abilities. In addition, unfortunately, many students at this age don't feel the urge to read for pleasure. I would like to provide as many books as possible in my classroom's lending library.
I want every student to find books that they'll love to read. I want students who love reading to continue to love reading, students who used to love reading to rediscover their love for reading, and students who have never liked reading to give reading a chance.
